Scott Michels is an award-winning journalist and senior producer at the nonprofit news organization Retro Report. His work, on subjects ranging from police reform to immigration to extremist movements, has appeared on PBS FRONTLINE, The New York Times, The New Yorker, VICE and other national news outlets.
He recently co-wrote and produced Crisis on Campus for PBS FRONTLINE. Scott was the senior series producer for Extremism in America, a five-part digital series and broadcast film that examined the decades-long rise of violent hate groups in America. His work has been nominated for three Emmys and has won the Edward R. Murrow, Online Journalism, and Webby awards. Scott is a graduate of New York University School of Law and Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism.
